Žiarska chalet (1325 m.n.m.) is the gateway to the touristic area of the Žiarska valley and Roháče in the Western Tatras. It is the only alpine chalet in the Western Tatras from the Liptov side. It is not only a place of relaxation and a base for starting alpine hikes, but also a place that has contributed to the saving of many human lives. A 6 km long asphalt road leads through the valley up to the chalet and a hiking trail suitable for family trips along the blue trail takes about 1:30 hours. The Žiarska chalet was completely renovated in 2006. It is now fully operational and provides its visitors with complete accommodation and catering services. It is open all year round.
